Samshik appears as a frivolous and carefree man who wanders in the village of plum tree. It quickly becomes apparent that this man is not as simple as it seems.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

In actuality, Samshik is the god of life and death. He is enamored with the thousand years fox Mi Ho, and is willing to do anything to get her. He was angered by Mi Ho’s undivided affection for Ki Hyun, and wanted to ruin him. He tricked Mi Ho into drinking a poison that greatly weakens her, before bringing her along with him. Samshik tied a band which cannot be taken off around Mi Ho’s wrist to possess her, and even forced her to embrace him. He acts in disregard for Mi Ho’s feeling, as he felt that even if she hates him, it was alright as long as she thinks of him.

Samshik was made to be a complex character, but his story was not explored well in the manhwa. There is definitely potential for a more in-depth development of his character.
