Lord Lee is the head of the village of plum tree. He is also the father of lady Woo Hee. After his daughter went missing, he forbids her from going out almost entirely. He only allows her to go out on the day of the new moon, and is extremely protective of her.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

As truth reveals, Lord Lee’s daughter had suffered from a skin disease that required her to be wrapped entirely in bandages. Overtime, his daughter lost her eyesight and wishes nothing more than to be beautiful, even in her last moments. To grant his daughter’s wish, he traded his daughter’s heart for the doll’s beauty, allowing his daughter to live on as the beautiful doll. He kept Woo Hee mostly hidden in his residence. Due to the traits of a doll his daughter now possesses, the daughter could not grow old. To keep this fact hidden from the village, he orders anyone who became suspicious of Woo Hee’s everlasting youth to be executed. He believed that only such actions can allow his daughter to live safe and sound, and away from any impending danger.

If you have read the review I had wrote for this manhwa, you would already knew that I found this manhwa very puzzling. A large part of such confusion also arises from the actions and motives of Lord Lee. He made a deal with the ghost of the plum tree to use the doll to house his daughter’s heart, and vowed to keep the daughter’s secret for a decade. But it is very vague what he hopes to achieve after the decade.

Towards the ending, almost everyone in the village deteriorated and faced death, including him. It is very puzzling to me what caused this to happen. As the head of the village, does he care for the village, or only his daughter? Is he only tremendously cruel, or is there some kindness left in him for people other than his daughter? I would definitely love to hear any interpretations you may have regarding him and the origins of the village of plum tree!
