Wen Mo Yan is the young master of an affluent family. He is a childhood friend of Ying Shuang, and has been in love with her since many years ago.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Mo Yan is willing to commit any crimes in order to have Ying Shuang. Despite his cruelty, his conviction to love and protect Ying Shuang is true. Mo Yan is willing to eliminate everyone around Ying Shuang, but he will never cause her any physical harm.

He had planned and murdered Ying Shuang’s family so that she will have no one to rely on but himself. When that did not work out, he tricked Ying Shuang’s friend to bring her to him. And when that friend accidentally poisoned Ying Shuang, Mo Yan ruthlessly ordered her to be executed.

In order to find out Ying Shuang’s whereabouts, Mo Yan spared no hesitation in using extreme methods, and will not even spare innocent children. Even when he knows Ying Shuang did not love him, and faced multiple rejections from her, he still forced and blackmailed her into marrying him.

Ultimately, he was stabbed by his most beloved Ying Shuang as she take revenge on him on their wedding night. Even close to death, he did not blame her, stating that he only feel happiness to die by her hands. By a turn of events, he survived narrowly from the assault. But, this event finally put an end into his crazed actions for Ying Shuang.

Wen Mo Yan is one of the earliest yanderes which I have came across, and I am delighted that he fits the yandere archetype perfectly, at least in my book. While what he did will be unforgivable in reality, it is thrilling to witness the lengths he would to go for Ying Shuang. It is also undeniable that he genuinely loves her and wants to protect her, even though his methods and thoughts are unorthodox.

Still, this man is dumb. A few moments after killing Ying Shuang’s entire family, he dropped his façade, and proudly declared to Ying Shuang that he was responsible for the murder. Seriously, what did he expect in return for his declaration? Did he think that Ying Shuang would fall head over heels in love with him after knowing he brutally killed her loved ones and destroyed her home? Things would have turned out way better for him had he not be so daft.
