Sid is Orli’s childhood friend whom she met at the orphanage. Together, they were brought in by Clark, and both of them worked in his detective agency after they grew up. Although Sid often disappears on Orli for unknown reasons, he cares deeply for her.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Unbeknownst to Orli, Sid is a supernatural being which acts as an “Observer”, monitoring the different timelines for anomalies and setting things right when needed. As an emotionless being, Sid carried out his supposed tasks until he stumbled upon a young Orli one day. Strangely, he could feel her emotions directly in him, and these emotions are something he had never felt before. Although his initial thought was to eliminate the anomaly that was Orli, he decided to observe her a little more.

He approached the young Orli by posing as a kid around her age, and they slowly became friends. Initially, Sid convinced himself that he was only around her to better observe her. However, he gradually developed genuine care for her, and even romantic feelings as they spent more time together.

As an observer of the different timelines, Sid was crushed to discover that no matter how hard he search, there was not a single timeline where Orli ends up with him. Particularly, Dane was a big hurdle between him and Orli. Droven into desperation by the seemingly hopeless fate, Sid decided to forcefully drag Orli into a different timeline than her original one to hide her from Dane and potentially other suiters. However, as he was afraid of ruining his current friendship with Orli, he refused to admit his romantic feelings for her.

Eventually, Orli was able to break Sid’s walls and the both of them opened up to each other. In the happy ending, through Orli’s perseverance, the two finally found a new timeline where they belong together.

Out of all the routes, Sid by far has the most heartbreaking and memorable bad ending for me. In one of the bad ending, Orli lives a happy life with “Sid” as her husband, though she can’t shake the feeling that something is not right, and “Sid” continues to reassure her that everything is fine. Turns out, the real Sid could not be with her as there were never any timeline that belonged to the two of them. So, to make their wishes come true, Sid let Orli live in a dream world where Orli and “Sid” lived happily ever after. In truth, Sid could not enter the world, and can only watch Orli with the fake “Sid” through a screen as an observer. He tells himself it’s ok, that seeing her live her life happily is enough for him. He stays in front of the screen forever.

Kudos to the game creator for creating Sid! I played his route last, as per the recommended route order. Initially, I thought that once the game let us confront the “Heart Ripper” in the previous route, I would be less enthusiastic to play Sid’s. But I actually kept my interest till the end, and it was so worth it to unlock all his endings, especially the happy end (my poor heart couldn’t take the angst of the soul-crushing bad end… T.T). Sid is a complex character, and although frustrating, I can also see things from his perspective and empathize with his choice. I definitely recommend any yando lovers to try out this game and experience it for yourself!
