An Ran is a childhood friend of Ling Yi Zhou. She had came back from overseas, and believe that as Ling Yi Zhou rarely interacts with women other than her, she has a very good chance of entering a romantic relationship with him.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

When it became apparent that Ling Yi Zhou will never love another person like how he loves Xia Lin, An Ran decided that it will be best to erase Ling Yi Zhou’s memory of Xia Lin altogether. This way, even if he does not love An Ran, at least he will keep a close relationship with her and not love anyone else.

An Ran partnered with someone else to organize a car crash involving Ling Yi Zhou, and brought him to a secluded car park. She misled a hypnotherapist to perform hypnosis on Ling Yi Zhou, and erased two years of his memory, effectively causing him to forget Xia Lin entirely.

While it worked initially, Ling Yi Zhou soon began to show symptoms of recovery. To prevent that from happening, An Ran attempted to dose Ling Yi Zhou with sleeping pills and perform the hypnosis again. Too bad An Ran is just a second female lead, so her plan failed.

Eventually, her love for Ling Yi Zhou turned into hatred for Xia Lin. Her subsequent actions afterwards are all directed at ruining Xia Lin instead of pursuing Ling Yi Zhou. So, it marks her end of her yandere journey and the start of a jealous, crazed woman who will stop at nothing to bring Xia Lin down, even if it means harming her close friends and even Ling Yi Zhou.

I classify An Ran as a yandere as her actions are extreme, with a goal of obtaining Ling Yi Zhou, and her actions were significant enough to have impact in the main plot of the drama. To be very honest, however, An Ran as a character lacked presence. Her actions and emotions throughout the show can be easily neglected. So, it was quite a letdown for me.
