SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Amane had developed a crush on Madoka since early on. When the two met for a cooking session together at Madoka’s house, Amane did not turn the stove off properly due to carelessness. This resulted in a fire outbreak which ultimately killed Madoka’s single mother.
Amane was overwhelmed with guilt, and tried to apologize to Madoka as soon as she could. Although sad, Madoka was quick to reassure Amane that the fire was not her fault and that she wasn’t to be blamed. This made Amane swore that she will protect Madoka with everything she has for the rest of her life.
2 years later, Madoka started dating, but both boys whom she had dated went missing. This was because Amane had approached each of them, flirted, and invited them to her house. Since they agreed, Amane reasoned that they were cheaters, and undeserving of Madoka’s attention. She would bludgeon each of them with a hammer, kill them, and dispose of them. She would tell herself that this was all for Madoka, when it was really her jealousy surfacing.
Later, when Madoka got bullied due to rumors of the missing boys being related to her, Amane also went on to stalk and kill the main bully. This time however, her actions were photographed and reported to the police by none other than Utsuya Madoka herself. Amane would then be arrested by the police.
In truth, Madoka had never forgiven Amane for her role in her mother’s death. Since it was an accident, Amane could not be incriminated, but Madoka was determined to make Amane suffer somehow.
Madoka had known Amane was in love with her. Making use of this fact and Amane’s jealous nature, she purposely dated the boys to agitate Amane and make her act on it. Sure enough, Amane went on to murder them, and even proceeded to kill a bully. Now, with 3 murder charges, Amane was bound to be prosecuted, and would suffer the consequences of her actions. Finally, Madoka had exacted her revenge.
Amane is definitely a yandere, given how readily she murdered people out of jealousy or to protect Madoka. However, I find her character quite predictable, and instead found myself more interested in Utsuya Madoka, whose dubious behavior kept me questioning her real intentions. So, despite being a yandere fan, my focus was not on the yandere this time round.
