Lady Woo Hee had went missing in the past. Since then, her worried father would only allowed her to go out on the day of the new moon. She met a beautiful man, who told her that she do not have much time left. He left her with a prophecy; the day of the solar eclipse will be day her life as a human ends. What could be going on, and is such prophecy true?

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

A tragic story about an impossible romance between the ghost and his doll. As it turns out, Woo Hee is a doll created by the ghost, Ki Hyun, through sacrificing his arm. However, the doll can only live on by taking Ki Hyun’s life energy, which is detrimental for him in the long run. Ki Hyun knew this perfectly well, and accepted it.

The doll later came to realize it, and was heartbroken. She had slowly came to love the ghost. Yet, by staying beside him, she is hurting him. She had initially chose to forget about such pain and to run away from Ki Hyun in order to save him. Ultimately, when she regained her forgotten memories, she decides to end her life to stop the sufferings of the people around her, especially Ki Hyun. Ki Hyun, overwhelmed by sadness, found the world meaningless without the doll, and chose to perish along with her.

An unfortunate love between Ki Hyun and Woo Hee. Both of them simply wants each other to be happy and well, but that cannot achieved without hurting themselves. The other characters in this story are not much happier, each with their own backstory and sufferings. Overall, the entire story is sad and bittersweet.

The manhwa art is devastatingly beautiful. It was first published in 2011, till today I have seen few stories that are drawn as intricate as this. Unfortunately, the manhwa is as confusing as it is beautiful. So many events could not be connection properly, and some occurrences, motives and reasons were not explained in detail. Why would running away from Ki Hyun save his life? How did Ki Hyun died and ended up as a ghost? What exactly happened to the village of plum tree? One can only make the connections based on their own assumptions. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful story of love and heartbreak.
