SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Ryo is a major reason that the protagonist got kidnapped by the newly transferred group of boys. I honestly have no idea how he fell in love with her so fast. But things happened, and Ryo just think that the protagonist is the best, the cutest, the prettiest thing that he could have laid his eyes on. He fell deeply in love with her, and called her an “angel”.

When he got drunk ins school once, he forcefully kissed the protagonist. He also thought that her frightened countenance was cute, and wanted to see more of it. Talk about gross. But the stupid protagonist decides to forgive him only a few days later. Talk about dumb.

If the protagonist agree to visit the “cool guys home” when invited, Ryo would drug her drink and put her in the basement. Else, they will meet when Bako kidnap her from her house instead.

When they hung out, Ryo gifted his mother’s momento to the protagonist; it was an expensive necklace with diamonds and silver. To him, the protagonist is quickly becoming the most important person in the world. Even when the protagonist intentionally broke the treasured necklace later in the game, he would forgive her fairly quickly.

Among the 6 yanderes, Ryo is one of the most gullible and trusting of the protagonist. He is highly delusional, thinking that the protagonist loved him, and if not, will quickly come to love him by staying with him. No matter what the protagonist did, he will still keep an angelic image of the protagonist, brainwashing himself into thinking that she is perfect and could never do wrong to him.

A few days into captivity, the protagonist attempted to escape, and tried to hide away from the boys. It was revealed here that Ryo’s father used to love his mother in the same twisted way: by tying her up and keeping her drugged to stay by his side. His mother was also addicted to drugs. Ryo’s dysfunctional family had most likely contributed to his deranged way of thinking.

Soon, a very drunk Ryo found the protagonist in hiding. As Ryo always acted extremely threatening and violent when drunk, the protagonist was quickly sent over the edge. Here, the protagonist either break down in an attempt to commit suicide or try to turn a knife onto Ryo. If she did the latter, Ryo ends up forgiving her anyway. Because in his mind, the protagonist can do no wrong, and any mistakes made was unintentional and should be quickly forgiven.

However, despite his quick forgiveness towards the protagonist, he believed in dealing “punishments” whenever the protagonist retaliates. This often involved taking away the things or the people she cared about. He thought that these are simply methods to guide her on the “right path”, so that she return to being the kind and pure angel that cared for him like how she did when they first met.

In his ending, the protagonist failed to escape in a separate attempt, and got caught by Ryo. The protagonist was chained up with a disoriented Ryo; he had just killed his best friend Kaito while the protagonist was out cold.

Apparently, Kaito had tried to break their agreement to take her for himself. However, his plans got discovered by Ryo, and Ryo murdered Kaito in an attempt to stop him. Now, Ryo decided that it would be for the best to keep you all to himself. He would bring you away to somewhere far away, where you can be together, married and happy forever after.

Personally, I find Ryo to be one of the more tolerable ones among the 6. Although his love came abruptly and he can be violent, he can be easily tamed if the protagonist spend some effort to convince him. Among the 6, he is also one of the more empathetic ones (although that’s not much).

I think he really did care for the protagonist, but he just could not understand things from her point of view because of his very screwed up mindset. It can be frustrating when the protagonist tried to explain to him but he absolutely catch no ball. But given the other yanderes in the game, I find him relatively okay among them. Still, I am not fond of him, and the same goes for all the yanderes featured in the game.
