Richard Fenton is an ex-biology teacher. He is later put behind the bars for murdering Donna’s family members.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Richard Fenton developed an unhealthy obsession with Donna Keppel during the time he served as her biology teacher in high school. To obtain her, he trespassed her apartment and murdered her entire family, including her father, mother, and younger brother. Richard was later captured by the police. During the questioning, he was not remorseful at all. Instead, he claimed that since Donna no longer has her family, she needed him more than ever. He was delusional, thinking that his love for Donna was requited. Of course, all his actions just made Donna’s fear and hatred for him even stronger, and he was sent for lifetime imprisonment.

Three years later, during Donna’s senior prom, Richard Fenton managed to escape the prison and track Donna down. He infiltrated the Pacific Grand Hotel, the venue where the prom was held, in order to kidnap Donna. To achieve his goal while staying under the radar, he murdered several people, including hotel employees and Donna’s friends. When he finally met Donna, he tried to calm her down and capture her, but Donna managed to escape and return to her apartment.

Richard did not stop his pursuit however, and made it to Donna’s apartment as well. To get to her, he murdered the policemen stationed outside the residence, and also killed Donna’s boyfriend who had accompanied her home. Once again, he tried to take Donna with him, but Donna resisted violently. Seeing that more policemen were arriving, and Donna will soon be rescued, Richard made a last minute decision to kill her instead. But before he could stab her, the police arrived and shot him dead, freeing Donna from Richard one of for all.

It is quite obvious that Richard is a yandere. However, his character is really superficial. Not much is known about him other than his obsessive love for Donna and his murderous streak. Even the reason for his obsession was not mentioned. His yandere traits was only there for the movie’s slasher storyline to progress. So yes, Richard is a yandere character. But no, his character is not interesting at all.
