SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Rakuo Kumode, or “Raku”, first met Nelli when they were queuing up in the library to borrow some books. Raku spotted Nelli’s keychain from a game they were both a fan of. They hit it off well from then on, sharing their favorite games, and eventually began dating. The both of them got along well, and became each other’s confidant. They even had talks about their future together, until Nelli suddenly decided to break it off with Raku.
Nelli tried her best to avoid Raku, and was successful until she bumped into him in the woods. She was cycling and her bike chain broke. A huge rainfall followed shortly. With little choice, the both of them sought shelter at a rundown bus stop, where Raku finally had the chance to talk to Nelli.
Raku could not accept the break up. He had loved Nelli deeply over the years. When he was facing troubles with his family, Nelli was there to offer him comfort. Over time, Raku felt that Nelli was the one who understood him the most, and he wouldn’t be able to handle it if she was to leave him.
It was unusual for Nelli to break up over text, without any explanations. It also seemed unusual that after the death of Nelli’s best friend Sana, Nelli began to get close to Sana’s ex-boyfriend Jihoon.

Should Nelli act cruel and distant towards Raku throughout their interactions in the woods, Raku would believe that Nelli indeed no longer loves him. In his state of agitation, he will reveal his true self – an arachnid. Out of shock and fear of Raku’s true form, Nelli ran away from him. She hid in the raining woods for hours, only to be caught by Raku’s webs in the end. Here, Raku believes that the only way to have Nelli remain by his side would be to have a world where only the both of them exist, and he is determined to make it a reality.
If Nelli acts kindly towards Raku, the truth will be revealed. Jihoon had recklessly caused Sana’s death weeks prior and got off scot-free. Seething with hatred towards Jihoon for killing her best friend, Nelli decided to exact revenge on him. First, she got close to Jihoon to find an opportunity. Then, she murdered him in cold blood. When Nelli ran into Raku in the woods, she had just escaped from the crime scene along with Jihoon’s decapitated head, ready to dispose of it. Unfortunately, her crime got discovered by Raku.
Instead of distancing himself from Nelli, Raku immediately helped her. Changing into his true form, he chewed and ate Jihoon’s decapitated head to get rid of the evidence. He even asked Nelli where were the rest of the body parts, and offered to do the same for those too. Raku could care less of the murder Nelli had just committed, all he cared about was that Nelli needs him now. Not only did he knew of the crime, he can also help to cover it up. If Nelli agrees, he will even kiss her right after transforming back into his human form, mouth still tasting of acid and blood. Eww… Regardless, now that they are in on it together, the two will be together again, much to Raku’s delight.

I find Raku to be quite a likeable character. Arachnid aside, he is really a nice and patient boyfriend. I mean, the two of them have been dating for years, only for Nelli send him a breakup text out of the blue, then proceed to avoid him like a plague for 2 weeks. Even when they finally bump into each other, Nelli just gives him the cold shoulder. Any sane person would have stomped off from such a toxic girlfriend. But of course, our dear Raku is not. So despite these ridiculous treatment, he still cared for Nelli, helping her with her bike, cleaning up her bloodied knee, and more.
In some scenes, Nelli even decided to kill him off to cover for her crimes. But none of that changes Raku’s love for her, he will still sought her out so that they can get back together again.
I would love to have seen how his feelings for Nelli developed, and more of their interactions together. It would be even better if there were more yandere scenes in the game. But I understand that the length of the game would not allow that. Nevertheless, Raku is definitely an interesting yandere, and I do recommend you to check him out.
