Luigi is a prominent mafia boss from Italy. Ruthless and cold-hearted, Luigi is a fearsome figure to all. Things changed after he was saved by Jay, as he experienced uncalculated kindness from her.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Luigi first met Jay Jin when she lost her bodyguard while running away from paparazzi. Jay noticed that a hitman was targeting Luigi, and took the bullet for him out of pure compassion. While Luigi was unscathed, Jay fainted from the trauma. Unsure of what to do with her, Luigi ended up bringing her back to his base for treatment.

Jay’s abrupt entrance into Luigi’s life caused much confusion for him. Luigi was honed to be merciless to achieve his aim; the very people whom he loved betrayed his trust and taught him this. However, Jay was obviously selfless when she chose to save him. She did not know who he was, and her only goal was to save someone in danger. Luigi, who hasn’t experience such kindness since long ago, was moved by her. Although he denied it, Luigi eventually began to care for her.

As chance has it, Jay suffered from amnesia due to the impact of her injury. Although she was engaged with Jarte and he was desperately looking for her, Jay was entirely ignorant of this fact. She had forgotten everything about herself, and everyone that she knew. Jay was frightened by her environment, and she refused to eat until Luigi came over to calm her down.

Overtime, Luigi fell in love with Jay’s naive and kindhearted nature. He wanted to keep her by his side, but Jay expressed her desire to regain her memory and return to her loved ones. By then, Luigi had already found out about Jay’s background, as she was featured in news as the fiancé of Jarte. Nevertheless, Luigi lied to her, saying that no one had looked for her, and that she has no one else in this world who cared for her. Of course, this broke Jay’s heart, but it also dampened her desire to seek out her past. This was exactly what Luigi wanted.

Unfortunately for Luigi, Jarte managed to find where Jay was located, and took her back in the end. Although Jay was fearful of Jarte in the beginning, she began to accept and love him when she recovered her memory later on.

Luigi tried to meet up with Jay when she was on a vacation, hoping that she would return to him. However, all he received was her rejection, and her blatant declaration of her love for Jarte. Now, Luigi was convinced that Jay would not return to him of her own will. He began to craft a deliberate plot to separate Jay from Jarte, even if it meant hurting her.

Luigi collaborated with Clarence Ewan, a man who hated Jarte deeply. Clarence wished for Jarte to suffer, while Luigi desired Jay. Together, they drew an elaborate plan and framed Jay, painting her as a spy working for Luigi. They tricked Jarte and his team into thinking that Jay had been leaking classified information to Luigi, and that she only got close to Jarte to access such information. They also created false evidence that portrayed Jay and Luigi as lovers.

Although this caused a major strain in their relationship, Luigi was unable to get Jay back due to Clarence’s interference. Because of his reckless decisions, as well as failure in one of his collaboration with Russian mafia, Luigi also had to lay low after this incident.

As Jay’s relationship with Jarte deteriorates even further, Jay managed to contact Luigi, and get away from Jarte with his help. During this time, Luigi also realized that his past actions were selfish and cruel. Unfortunately, while he admitted his mistakes and was repentant, Jay no longer want to stay with him anymore.

Nevertheless, Luigi wanted to protect Jay, knowing very well of the dangers she face with Clarence, as well as her desire to avoid Jarte. Due to his increasingly precarious position in the underworld, he figured that he would not be able to protect Jay by himself. As such, he entrusted Jay under the protection of someone else, at the cost of his life. Luigi kept his sacrifice a secret from Jay, and it wasn’t until many years later that Jay found out about it. It was too late.

Out of all the characters that pursued Jay, I liked Luigi the most. Although it’s quite ridiculous the way he fell for Jay just because she saved him, it was clear that his love for her was genuine. While he was selfish and framed Jay to make Jarte turn against her, he realized his mistakes and repented, ultimately giving up his life to protect the girl that he knew will never love him back.

I find it a shame that he was gone so early in the manhwa. He was my favorite character and I really liked his character design. I mean, just look at that flowy platinum blonde hair! Those luscious locks! And that one cross-earring that elevates his looks that much more! It’s just perfect.

Looks aside, I also felt like his personality and position as the mafia boss made him an interesting character in the story. There was so much potential for his character to be explored, and it felt like the author just reached a writer’s block and decided to kill him off.

It would have been better for him to stay in the story longer, and contribute more to the plot. Nevertheless, his arc was interesting and distinctive, and it was also what made 100% perfect girl memorable for me.
