Bai Jin Xi is a talented policewoman who specializes in criminal psychology. 5 years ago, she had lost her memory through an accident. Since then, she had always been haunted by strange recurring dreams. As her career progresses, she meets a highly competent and distinguished police named Han Chen. Together, they work to solve the most heinous crimes, while discovering the truth hidden from 5 years ago.

SPOILERS AND PERSONAL OPINION

Memory Lost consist of 3 seasons, each 12 episodes long. It follows Bai Jin Xi as she gets deployed to deal with the most dangerous criminal organization. Together with Han Chen and other teammates, they work to uncover the truth of their pasts.

As Jin Xi proved her capability in her field, she was deployed to work in Black Shield team along with her close friend and subordinate Zhou Xiao Zhuan. The Black Shield Team was created to deal with the most dangerous of criminals. There, Jin Xi met her team members: Leng Mian, Lao Dao, and Han Chen.

As serial murders became rampant in the region, it became obvious that they are dealing with a highly coordinated criminal organization. Each member of the organization is represented by an alphabet, and each of them have their own unique style of crime execution: poison, explosion, hacking, hypnosis and more. As Jin Xi and Han Chen came face to face with the organization, they began to discover the truth behind both their memory lost, as well as what happened 5 years ago.

Turns out, Jin Xi had been living with a false identity the last 5 years. Her real name is Su Mian. 5 years ago, she had met Han Chen when she was an intern in the police force. Soon, they fell in love, and she became engaged to Han Chen, who promised her that they will marry once she graduate.

Unfortunately, during a mission where she went undercover, she was kidnapped by the criminal organization, and Han Chen was roped into the situation in a bid to save her. During the scheme, the criminal organization tricked Bai Jin Xi, Su Mian’s younger cousin and lookalike into their hideout and had her killed. It was there that both their memory got systematically erased, and Su Mian proceeded to live out her life as Bai Jin Xi.

As truth reveals, the leader of the criminal organization, with codename “S”, had posed as Su Mian’s trusted friend and stayed close to her all along. He was none other than Xu Si Bai.

Having all the secrets uncovered, the Black Shield Team had a final showdown with the criminal organization, along with the lives of the citizens and their own at stake. After a gruesome fight and the annihilation of the entire criminal organization, the Black Shield Team emerged victorious.

Having their mission on the criminal organization finalized, Su Mian and Han Chen went on a vacation, having reunited at last after 5 years. Each of the Black Shield Team members also got their own happy ending. However, it is hinted that “S” managed to survive the ordeal. Though presumably no longer malicious towards them, he may still be close by.

I rarely watch crime dramas as they are not really my preference. However, this drama is really so interesting. Right off the bat I became curious about Su Mian’s lost memory, and what really happened to her in the past. There is sufficient mystery to keep me going through the episodes and seasons.

The criminal organization really takes the cake. Each of the characters are unique and interesting. Almost all of them have solid backstories which explains how they ended up the way they are, and the drama also shows their emotional and humane side. All of them are extremely likeable, especially “T”, “A”, “R”, and “S”.

“T” went on his rampage due to injustice he witnessed, which had happen to the kindest of people. “A” was crazy and cute in the most endearing ways, especially the way he demonstrated his fondness for Su Mian. “R” was underrated, but he was clever and cool, not to mention extremely loyal to their organization and leader. “S” was the most interesting and my favorite character of all; it is simply a shame that his nature as a dangerous and influential leader of the criminal organization was underexplored.

Honestly, if it isn’t obvious by now, I am totally on the criminal organization side and hoping for their victory over the Black Shield Team. Not that the Black Shield Team isn’t good, but the criminal organization is just too awesome. (Of course, I am only saying this because this drama is fiction.)

On top of it all, all the characters are so good-looking! Seriously, where else can we find a criminal organization filled with so many handsome and attractive guys? The Black Shield Team also have plenty of charismatic characters. Heck, the entire cast is just so easy on the eyes, I wonder how much effort the directors actually took to recruit all of them.

All in all, a very good drama that have all that I ask for: romance, yandere, thriller, mystery, action and beautiful characters. I am content now.
